One of the fastest, easiest ways to make cash over the Internet is by offering a service. They take a bit more work as you’re often paid for time put in, but when I got started online, I was able to start making a full-time income within a month’s time from my new side business.

Writing Service

Elance, Craigslist, Guru.com, and the Warrior Forum are all decent places to find work initially, though you have to wade through quite a bit of garbage to find good clients. Fiverr can be an okay start as well if you learn to use their upsell feature to your advantage. You’ve also got the content mills, like Textbroker, which, while quite disheartening, can fill your schedule immediately.

But for rates worth writing home about, target real-world companies and authority websites. Cold-emailing can be effective, but if you really want to find success, you’ll need to learn some higher-level marketing. Network with other serious online writers for tips on getting your foot in the door.

The good news is that learning to market your service business can provide some great lessons you can use to reach your other online goals later on.

4. Copywriting Services

Sales copywriting is arguably the highest form of freelance writing out there, though it can be difficult to get your foot in the door. There’s a real science to sales writing, so it pays to study the greats. Gary Halbert, Dan Kennedy, and John Carlton are great teachers to start with.

Securing your first clients will be tough. Do a couple pages cheap and stay in touch with clients so you can hear about their results, and then leverage these to build your portfolio and charge higher rates.

5. Mobile Web Design

We are smack dab in the middle of the mobile revolution at the moment, and the Internet is chock full of websites that are not adequately optimized for mobile devices. This is a direct loss of profit for business owners. Spend some time teaching yourself how to correctly sites and then approach business owners directly to show them how horrible their site looks on your phone.

6. Non-IM Services

A lot of online marketers forget that there are millions of other people online who aren’t there to make money. These people also need services you can offer through the web. Writing letters, research, family video editing, tutoring, portraits, genealogy…the list goes on and on. What are you good at and passionate about? Consider throwing up a website to offer it as a service around the world.
